What did the team focus on?

The ELL2012 project team carried out research in five East London boroughs (Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets & Waltham Forest) with the objective of documenting any changes as the Olympics approach. In its first year the project team asked:

  • What did people think about the Olympics being hosted in London?
  • What hopes and fears did people have for the way the Olympics would turn out?
  • What would make the Olympics good or bad for local people?
  • Could people give us one word that would sum up their feelings about the Games?
  • Would the Olympics inspire people to do things differently, take up opportunities, or had they attempted and found this hard?
